Bird gels or sticky repellents are applied to surfaces and are designed to make birds uncomfortable when they land. The active ingredient is either polybutene or isopolybutene, the same substance used in adhesive bandages and the goal is not to have the birds get stuck. The birds may attempt to land for a short period after it has been treated but the birds will quickly associate discomfort with those ledges and seek alternative roosting locations. This is an effective alternative to bird spikes in areas where maintaining the aesthetics of the building is a priority. For maximum efficiency, it is important the material is applied properly. DRAGONFLY technicians are trained to understand different surfaces and how to prepare them for use of a repellent. Ledges must be free of any debris, sealed prior to the application and completely dry.
